About the Role
We are seeking a competent and tech-savvy Accountant to join our growing healthcare team in Enugu. The ideal candidate must be ICAN certified, highly proficient with accounting systems, and capable of streamlining financial processes using technology.
This role is critical in improving operational efficiency and addressing backlog issues caused by poor IT literacy among current staff. The right candidate must combine sound financial knowledge with excellent software skills to manage day-to-day accounting functions, ensure compliance, and produce timely financial reports.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and maintain accurate financial records and generate timely reports
- Ensure full compliance with internal financial policies and relevant regulatory standards
- Track hospital income and expenditures, and monitor financial performance
- Coordinate external and internal audits, and support audit readiness
- Manage vendor payments and supervise payroll preparation
- Prepare monthly financial statements, budget performance reports, and variance analyses
- Reconcile bank statements, manage petty cash, and oversee inventory-related accounting entries
- Implement accounting software tools and promote digital recordkeeping across the finance function
Requirements & Qualifications
- B.Sc./HND in Accounting, Finance, or a related discipline
- Professional certification (ICAN or ACCA) is mandatory
- Minimum of 3–5 years of relevant accounting experience, preferably in a healthcare or service-based organization
- High proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Sage, or similar tools) and advanced MS Excel skills (e.g., formulas, pivot tables, reconciliation templates)
- Strong knowledge of Nigerian tax laws, statutory deductions (PAYE, VAT, WHT), and financial regulations
- Excellent organizational, analytical, and communication skills
- Must demonstrate integrity, attention to detail, and a proactive work ethic
- Ability to work independently, meet tight deadlines, and optimize outdated accounting practices using technology
