Role Summary:
As a Drilling Engineer, you will be responsible for planning and overseeing drilling operations to extract oil and gas from underground reservoirs. You will work closely with geologists, drilling supervisors, and operations managers to optimize drilling performance and ensure the safe and efficient extraction of hydrocarbons.

Responsibilities:

  • Design and plan drilling programs to safely and efficiently extract oil and gas from underground reservoirs.
  • Select and procure drilling equipment and materials, including drill bits, casing, and drilling fluids, and ensure compliance with technical specifications and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor drilling operations and provide technical support to drilling teams, including troubleshooting drilling problems, optimizing drilling parameters, and evaluating drilling performance.
  • Conduct drilling risk assessments and develop contingency plans to mitigate drilling hazards and minimize operational disruptions.
  • Collaborate with geoscientists to analyze subsurface data and identify potential drilling targets, including reservoirs, faults, and geological formations.
  • Optimize well trajectories and drilling techniques to maximize reservoir exposure and production rates while minimizing drilling costs and environmental impacts.
  • Conduct post-drilling evaluations and well performance analyses to assess drilling efficiency, identify opportunities for improvement, and optimize future drilling programs.
  • Stay informed about industry best practices, technological advancements, and regulatory requirements in drilling engineering.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Petroleum Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in drilling engineering or a similar role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of drilling techniques, equipment, and technologies, including directional drilling, wellbore stability, and drilling fluid systems.
  • Proficiency in drilling engineering software and tools, such as drilling simulation software and wellbore modeling tools.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to troubleshoot drilling problems and optimize drilling performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and best practices in drilling operations.
