Role Summary:
As a Geologist, you will be responsible for studying and interpreting geological data to identify potential oil and gas reservoirs. You will work closely with petroleum engineers, drilling engineers, and operations managers to assess reservoir characteristics and plan drilling operations.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct geological surveys and studies to identify potential oil and gas reservoirs, including analyzing rock formations, evaluating seismic data, and interpreting well logs.
- Collaborate with geophysicists and other geoscience professionals to integrate geological and geophysical data and develop comprehensive subsurface models.
- Interpret geological data to assess reservoir properties, including porosity, permeability, and fluid saturation, and determine reservoir potential and production capacity.
- Assist in the design and planning of drilling operations, including selecting drilling locations, optimizing well trajectories, and assessing drilling risks.
- Monitor drilling activities and provide real-time geological support to drilling teams, including analyzing cuttings, evaluating formation pressures, and identifying potential drilling hazards.
- Conduct reservoir characterization studies to assess reservoir connectivity, compartmentalization, and fluid dynamics, and optimize production strategies.
- Collaborate with reservoir engineers to develop reservoir models and perform reservoir simulations to optimize production and recovery.
- Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies in geology and petroleum exploration.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Geology, Geosciences, or a related field.
- Proven experience in geological exploration or a similar role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
- Strong knowledge of geological mapping techniques, seismic interpretation, and well log analysis.
- Proficiency in geological modeling software and reservoir characterization tools.
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex geological data and make informed decisions.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
- Knowledge of safety and environmental regulations and best practices in the oil and gas industry.
