Job Summary:

The Medical Officer will provide high-quality clinical care to patients in accordance with hospital standards. This role entails evaluating, diagnosing, and treating a broad range of medical conditions while working collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team to ensure excellent patient outcomes and safety.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct patient consultations, clinical examinations, and diagnostic investigations.
  • Provide timely and appropriate medical treatment, including prescribing medication and developing treatment plans.
  • Collaborate with consultants and other healthcare professionals in managing complex cases.
  • Monitor patients’ progress, update medical records, and communicate effectively with patients and families regarding their health conditions and treatment options.
  • Participate in clinical audits, ward rounds, and case reviews.
  • Respond promptly to medical emergencies and participate in emergency care procedures as required.
  • Ensure compliance with hospital policies, ethical standards, and statutory regulations.
  • Participate in continuous medical education and professional development programs.
  • Provide guidance and mentorship to junior staff and interns where applicable.
  • Perform other clinical duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications and Requirements:

  • MBBS or equivalent medical degree from a recognized institution.
  • Full registration with the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN).
  • Minimum of 2 years of post-NYSC clinical experience (preferably in a hospital setting).
  • Valid practicing license.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certifications (an added advantage).
  • Strong diagnostic and decision-making skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and teamwork abilities.
  • High level of integrity, professionalism, and a patient-centered approach to care.
