Role Summary:
As an Optometrist you will specialize in eye and vision care, performing comprehensive eye examinations, prescribing corrective lenses, and diagnosing and managing eye conditions and diseases.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive eye examinations, including visual acuity tests, refraction, and eye health evaluations.
- Diagnose and treat visual conditions, such as myopia, hyperopia, astigmatism, and presbyopia, prescribing corrective lenses as needed.
- Detect and manage eye diseases and disorders, such as glaucoma, cataracts, diabetic retinopathy, and macular degeneration.
- Provide pre- and post-operative care for patients undergoing refractive surgery, such as LASIK and PRK.
- Educate patients about proper eye care, including contact lens hygiene, eye safety, and disease prevention.
- Collaborate with ophthalmologists and other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and referrals as needed.
Requirements:
- Bachelor’s degree in Optometry or related field from a recognized institution.
- Valid license to practice as an optometrist in Nigeria.
- Strong clinical skills and expertise in performing eye examinations and diagnosing eye conditions.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and patient care skills.
