Overview
We are seeking a dedicated and professional Patient Services Coordinator (PSC) to join our team. This role is pivotal in managing the end-to-end inpatient experience—from admission through to discharge. The ideal candidate will act as a liaison between patients, families, and multidisciplinary hospital teams to ensure seamless care delivery and exceptional service quality.
Key Responsibilities
- Admission Coordination: Oversee and process inpatient admissions, ensuring completion of documentation, consents, and billing procedures.
- Bed Management: Collaborate with nursing and ward managers to allocate beds efficiently and track availability for new admissions or internal transfers.
- Patient Orientation: Welcome admitted patients, and provide essential information on ward routines, hospital services, rights, and responsibilities.
- Care Navigation: Facilitate effective communication between patients, families, and healthcare teams to promote clarity and continuity of care.
- Daily Rounds Support: Participate in ward rounds when required to escalate service concerns and document patient experience feedback.
- Family Liaison: Act as the main point of contact for approved family communications, visitation guidance, and discharge planning.
- Discharge Coordination: Ensure smooth discharges by coordinating with clinical teams, billing, pharmacy, and transport services.
- Service Quality Monitoring: Track and respond to patient satisfaction indicators, manage feedback, and escalate special needs (e.g., dietary, religious, mobility).
- Documentation & Reporting: Maintain organized records of patient service interactions and submit daily reports on discharges and patient concerns.
- Compliance Support: Uphold hospital standards on patient safety, confidentiality, and professional conduct.
Qualifications & Experience
- B.Sc. or HND in Health Administration, Public Health, Social Sciences, or a related field.
- 2–4 years of experience in inpatient coordination, hospital front-office, or related roles.
- Strong knowledge of hospital admission/discharge workflows and procedures.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).
- Excellent interpersonal, communication, and problem-solving skills.
- Ability to multitask and remain composed in a fast-paced environment.
Desirable Attributes
- Prior experience in a specialist or tertiary hospital.
- Familiarity with NHIS/HMO billing and insurance procedures.
- Understanding of patient rights, infection control practices, and DAMA protocols.
