Our client, located in Port Harcourt, Nigeria, is a leading fabricator specializing in manufacturing steel oil rig components and kinetic tools used in upstream oil and gas drilling operations. With over 35 years of experience, they are renowned for their expertise in producing specialized components such as welded steel oil rigs, drilling spare parts, skid units, and pressure control equipment.

Role Summary:
As a Quality Assurance Engineer, you will play a critical role in ensuring the quality and reliability of the company’s products through the implementation of quality control processes and procedures. You will monitor manufacturing processes, conduct inspections and tests, and identify areas for improvement to enhance product quality and customer satisfaction.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement quality control processes and procedures to ensure product quality and compliance with industry standards and specifications.
  • Monitor manufacturing processes and production activities to identify areas for improvement and opportunities to enhance product quality and efficiency.
  • Conduct inspections and audits of raw materials, components, and finished products to verify compliance with quality standards and specifications.
  • Perform tests and measurements using various tools and equipment, including calipers, micrometers, and gauges, to assess product quality and performance.
  • Analyze data and test results to identify trends, patterns, and deviations from quality standards, and recommend corrective actions or process improvements as needed.
  • Collaborate with production teams, engineers, and suppliers to address quality issues, resolve problems, and implement corrective and preventive actions.
  • Document and report quality metrics, including defect rates, rework levels, and customer complaints, and provide regular updates to management on quality performance and improvement initiatives.
  • Conduct training sessions and workshops to educate employees on quality standards, procedures, and best practices, and promote a culture of quality and continuous improvement.
  • Stay up-to-date on industry trends, developments, and best practices in quality assurance and manufacturing processes, and incorporate new technologies and methodologies to enhance product quality and efficiency.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in quality assurance or quality control, preferably in a manufacturing environment, with experience in the oil and gas industry being a plus.
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems, tools, and methodologies, such as ISO 9001, Six Sigma, and lean manufacturing principles.
  • Experience with quality control processes and techniques, including inspection, testing, statistical analysis, and root cause analysis.
  • Proficiency in using quality control tools and equipment, such as calipers, micrometers, gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM).
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze data, identify trends, and implement corrective and preventive actions to improve product quality and performance.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers, and build positive working relationships.
  • Detail-oriented and organized, with the ability to prioritize tasks, meet deadlines, and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Knowledge of health, safety, and environmental regulations and standards applicable to manufacturing operations.
  • Certification in quality management (e.g., Certified Quality Engineer) is desirable but not required.
