Role Summary:
As a Safety Engineer, you will be responsible for implementing and maintaining safety programs to ensure compliance with regulatory standards and mitigate occupational hazards in oil and gas operations. You will work closely with project managers, engineers, and field personnel to promote a culture of safety and minimize risks.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and programs to ensure compliance with local regulations and industry standards.
  • Conduct risk assessments and job hazard analyses to identify potential hazards and develop controls to mitigate risks in oil and gas operations.
  • Provide safety training and orientation for new employees and contractors, including topics such as hazard recognition, PPE use, and emergency response procedures.
  • Conduct safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and work areas to identify safety deficiencies and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and develop corrective actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Monitor and analyze safety performance metrics and trends to identify areas for improvement and implement proactive measures to prevent injuries and accidents.
  • Participate in project planning and design reviews to ensure safety considerations are integrated into project designs and construction plans.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and emerging technologies in safety engineering and occupational health.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Safety Engineering, Occupational Health, or a related field.
  • Proven experience in safety engineering or a similar role, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of safety regulations and standards applicable to oil and gas operations, including OSHA, API, and ANSI standards.
  • Professional certifications such as CSP, ASP, or CHST are preferred.
  • Experience in conducting risk assessments, job hazard analyses, and incident investigations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with employees at all levels of the organization.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to develop practical solutions to complex safety challenges.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
