Role Summary:
As a Safety Officer, you will be responsible for implementing and overseeing safety programs and initiatives to ensure compliance with safety regulations and standards in oil and gas operations. You will work closely with project teams to identify and mitigate safety risks and promote a culture of safety and awareness.

Responsibilities:

  • Develop and implement safety policies, procedures, and guidelines in accordance with regulatory requirements and industry best practices.
  • Conduct regular safety inspections and audits of facilities, equipment, and operations to identify hazards and ensure compliance with safety standards.
  • Coordinate safety training and awareness programs for employees and contractors, covering topics such as hazard recognition, emergency response, and personal protective equipment (PPE) usage.
  • Investigate incidents, accidents, and near misses to determine root causes and implement corrective and preventive actions to prevent recurrence.
  • Maintain safety records, reports, and documentation, including incident reports, safety meeting minutes, and training records.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and contractors to identify and address safety concerns and implement safety measures in project planning and execution.
  • Monitor and enforce compliance with safety regulations, standards, and policies, including OSHA, NFPA, and API requirements.
  • Provide safety guidance and support to project teams, including risk assessments, safety planning, and safety meetings.
  • Stay informed about industry trends, developments, and emerging safety issues, and incorporate best practices into safety programs and initiatives.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Engineering, or a related field. Certification in safety management is preferred.
  • Proven experience in safety management, preferably in the oil and gas industry or a related field.
  • Knowledge of safety regulations, standards, and best practices applicable to oil and gas operations, including OSHA, NFPA, and API requirements.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively communicate safety requirements and promote a culture of safety.
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills, with the ability to analyze complex safety issues and develop effective solutions.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, with a strong commitment to safety and quality.
  • Proficiency in MS Office suite and safety management software.
  • Strong organizational and time management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks and meet deadlines.
